One, two, three, four! These smart socks proceed with strict regularity, slipped stitches defining the rhythm of an unchanging pattern repeat. The band heel means no gusset, and so no change in stitch count, just a steady march down to the toes.

Worked from the top down, the heel flap is worked in rows with a short-row heel turn. Stitches are picked up on each side of the heel flap and the foot is worked in the round with the same number of stitches as the leg. No gusset is worked with this style heel keeping the same stitch count on both the leg and foot.
