Jennifer Wood

In the early 2000s, when my daughter was in middle school, she had to read Witch of Blackbird Pond. She was very intrigued by the descriptions of the girls knitting and wanted to learn how to knit. So I bought a book, some yarn and some needles and we both learned how to knit. She soon got bored with it, I on the other hand was completely hooked. As the years went on and I learned more, I found myself altering patterns more to my style. Finally I decided to take the plunge and start designing my own patterns, which led to Wood House Knits.

This has been such a great adventure. It has taught me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. It has given a voice to the creativeness within me and drawn me closer to the Creator of all things. The process of having an idea in your head and bringing it to life fascinates me. It has also given me a chance to bless those around me whether that be through a hand knit gift or encouraging a beginning knitter. One of my favorite things to design is top down sweaters. I love the way the fit can be adjusted as you knit. And of course I love playing with cables within designs.

I have a new book Refined Knits coming out with Interweave early March 2016.
