Seraph Garden Scarf is a great way to explore knitCompanion and kCDesigns. It is a terrific introduction to lace knitting.
As is true for all kCDesigns, the Dalraida Cowl is both a kCDesign and a PDF so you can explore the differences. You can also follow along with Mary Beth Temple’s FREE class, Lace Knitting with knitCompanion.
If you haven’t already, download knitCompanion from the App Store. It is free to download and you can use the free basics with any pattern. You can also use any kCDesign with the free app which includes access to Magic Markers, custom settings, and more.

Use knitCompanion with any pattern, or skip the setup with our kCDesigns. kCDesign is a new pattern format that offers more than a PDF. Using a kCDesign lets you pick your pattern options such as size, motif, etc. and knitCompanion will create a customized project just for you.
- Add Seraph Garden Scarf kCDesign to your kC.
- Open knitCompanion and tap Designs on the right.
- Tap Create2Thrive at the top, and login if prompted.
- Tap Seraph Garden Scarf. Show Me
- Make a project with the kCDesign.
- knitCompanion is designed from the ground up to work with ANY PATTERN. This means you can knit what you love, no matter how the pattern has been published. You can use the same Setup tools for all your PDFs that our team uses to create kCDesigns (requires a subscription).
- We have also created a new format called kCDesign. The kCDesign is preconfigured by our team. Their work makes the pattern fully interactive on your device: sizes are selected, instructions are set with a one-tap marker, reminders added, and more. Plus when you use a kCDesign you have access to all the edit tools like Magic Markers and the ability to customize your project settings without a subscription.
- Below is a side by side comparison. Both of these examples show the START of a project. With a subscription, you have all the same tools our team uses to create a kCDesign. This means you can start with ANY PDF and fully customize it to have all the same capabilities as our kCDesigns.
- In Mary Beth Temple’s Lace Knitting with knitCompanion, she starts with the PDF and shows how to use setup with the pattern. If you are using the kCDesign you can skip the work done in Setup.

Join designer Mary Beth Temple as she shows you how best to use knitCompanion as an aid when you are working a colorwork pattern – especially one that is charted. You can isolate the chart, color it to match your yarn colors mark the row you are working on a variety of ways, and even ask knitCompanion to count sequential stitches in the same color! Check out her Lace Knitting with knitCompanion and follow along using either the kCDesign or PDF.
