Opportunities to team up with friends come along rarely, but when they do, they’re magic! My dear friends Tash Celm of Hand Make Create and Hannah Ginn of Circus Tonic Handmade created a gorgeous yarn together and I couldn’t resist designing an accessory that would show off its softness and drape. Their fingering-weight single-ply merino is as soft as a cloud and perfect for something light and lacy.
The scarf features a simple lace pattern inspired by the beautiful lace items we admired on our trip to Shetland with our fourth travel buddy, Tina McLeish. There is a special collaborative connection between the four of us, and this scarf feels like a reminder that friendships built through shared experiences, like knitting, travelling and making, are the ones that last.
The lace is worked over just two rows, with gentle tracks of ribbing and a tiny one-stitch garter edge to keep the fabric from rolling. It’s easily memorised, pleasantly rhythmic and has just enough interest to keep you engaged and stave off the classic scarf-knitting boredom (or is that just me?!). I want one in every colour!
