Kirsten Kapur

I’ve been making things all of my life — sewing, knitting, drawing, painting, gardening, cooking, needlepoint, cross stitch. I learned early on that my mom would provide endless materials if I would make my own clothes, so I spent most of my high school and college years sewing. After college I moved on to working as an apparel and textile designer for many years. After retiring from the garment industry to spend more time with my kids, I discovered the wonderful online community of knitters. From there one thing led to another and I discovered that everything that I had done professionally in those earlier year came neatly together in knitwear design. Knitwear designs have the unique pleasure of designing both the textile and the garment. It was true love.

I learned to spin after seeing all of the gorgeous yarns that people were making themselves. I love spinning as much as I love knitting, but don’t find nearly enough time to spin as often as I’d like.
